Meet Lift's new intern Rachel!

Hi everyone!

My name is Rachel! I have lived in Oak Creek my whole life, but also love traveling any chance I get, specifically to warm destinations. I enjoy all sports, especially Wisconsin sports teams, a good taco, concerts, and being with family and friends. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Studies from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and I am currently in my last semester of graduate school at Mount Mary University, in which I will graduate this May with my Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapy is an amazing profession that helps individuals of many different backgrounds and experiences achieve and maintain independence through a healthy and happy lifestyle, ultimately bringing meaning and purpose into daily life. This could be something as simple as being able to dress independently or as broad as being able to perform appropriate work duties after an injury.

This past year, I finished three clinical placements, where I worked as an Occupational Therapist full time. Two of my placements were at an outpatient facility, while one was at an inpatient facility – I loved all of them as I absolutely fell in love with the wide range of populations. I feel I have not only learned so much within the past couple years in graduate school, but also through my personal experience. Before I graduate and take the board examination, I am finishing up my last ever semester of school at Lift Milwaukee! While I am here for these 12 weeks, I am very excited to get to know everybody and dive deeper into my own abilities. In addition, I will be planning to implement my own designed program with you all. This program can be interpreted in multiple ways, but its overall goal aims to help individuals who come from all different backgrounds and experiences, to gain the ability to balance life’s stressors while understanding and recognizing stress symptoms in relation to one’s body. I am very passionate about improving the lives of others and am very excited to share my ideas with you all. I cannot wait to start!
